1
Sit upright on a bench with feet flat on the floor. Hold a barbell with both hands at shoulder width, bar positioned across the front of the shoulders at collarbone height. Core engaged and neutral spine.
2
Grip the barbell firmly with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width. Position feet flat on floor for stability. Take a deep breath and prepare to press overhead.
3
Lower the barbell in a controlled manner by allowing the elbows to flex, bringing the bar back down toward the shoulders and collarbone. Maintain an upright torso and engage core throughout the lowering phase.
4
Press the barbell vertically upward by extending the elbows and driving through the shoulders. Continue pressing until arms are nearly fully extended overhead with a slight bend at elbows. Return to the starting position and repeat.
