Barbell Lying Close grip Press

Instructions

1
Lie supine on a flat bench with feet firmly planted on the floor or bench. Position shoulders at approximately 45-60 degrees abduction angle. Grip the barbell with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart, palms facing forward.
2
Unrack the barbell and position it directly above the chest with arms fully extended. Ensure stable foot positioning and neutral spine against the bench. Take a deep breath to stabilize the core.
3
Lower the barbell in a controlled manner by bending the elbows, allowing them to track at approximately 45-60 degrees from the body. Descend until the barbell reaches chest level (approximately 1-2 inches above the sternum). Maintain scapular retraction throughout the descent.
4
Drive the barbell upward by pressing through the chest and extending the elbows. Return to the starting position with arms fully extended but not locked. Exhale during the pressing phase and maintain tension in the chest throughout the concentric movement.
