1
Sit on a bench with back support, torso upright and positioned perpendicular to the floor. Position feet flat on floor with a barbell plate (or weight) held horizontally across the thighs just above the knees. Keep knees bent at approximately 90 degrees.
2
Grip the barbell plate firmly with both hands, palms facing downward on either side of the plate. Engage your core and ensure your back remains in contact with the bench throughout the movement.
3
Slowly lower the barbell plate by allowing your knees to bend further, extending the range of motion while maintaining control. Lower until you reach a comfortable depth or slight stretch in the quadriceps, typically 110-120 degrees of knee flexion.
4
Drive through the thighs and extend the knees powerfully to return to the starting position. Press the barbell plate upward using quadriceps strength until legs return to the initial bent position, squeezing the thighs at the top of the movement.
