1
Lie flat on your back on the floor or bench with knees bent at approximately 90 degrees and feet flat. Hold a loaded barbell plate with both hands at chest height, arms extended upward. Keep your lower back neutral against the surface.
2
Position feet flat on floor with knees bent. Grip the plate firmly with both hands and press it directly above your chest. Engage your core and maintain neutral spine alignment before beginning the movement.
3
Slowly lower the loaded plate behind your head in a controlled arc, allowing your torso to extend while maintaining bent knees. Feel a stretch through the abdominal muscles as the plate descends. Keep elbows slightly bent and chest open.
4
Contract your abdominal muscles powerfully and pull the plate back up and over your chest using core strength. Return to the starting position with the plate held above your chest. Exhale during this concentric phase.
