1
Stand upright with feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, core engaged, and neutral spine alignment. Hold dumbbells or resistance handles at chest height with arms bent at 90 degrees, elbows slightly below shoulder level.
2
Grip the dumbbells firmly with a neutral grip (palms facing inward). Position arms in a ready position with elbows at approximately 90 degrees and level with shoulders. Ensure shoulders are retracted and depressed with chest open.
3
Slowly lower the dumbbells in a controlled manner by allowing the elbows to bend further and travel slightly back and outward in an arc. Feel the stretch across the chest as the dumbbells descend to approximately mid-chest level. Maintain core stability and prevent excessive spinal extension.
4
Press the dumbbells forward and upward by driving through the chest muscles, extending the elbows while maintaining a slight bend. Return to the starting position with controlled tempo. Maintain scapular stability throughout the pressing movement.
