Band One Arm Twisting Seated Row

Instructions

1
Sit on the ground with legs extended forward, back against a sturdy frame or bench, torso upright and stable. Position the frame or cable machine at chest height in front of you. Maintain neutral spine alignment with shoulders back and down.
2
Grasp the cable handle or attachment with a neutral grip at chest level. Arms should be slightly bent at the elbows. Engage your core and ensure your body is firmly anchored to the ground or support surface.
3
Slowly pull the handle toward your chest by retracting your scapulae and flexing your elbows. Control the eccentric phase as you allow the cable to extend forward, feeling tension build in the pectoralis major. Maintain core stability throughout.
4
Drive through your chest muscles to press the handle forward and away from your body in a controlled motion. Extend your arms fully while maintaining a slight bend in the elbows. Return to the starting position with control and repeat for prescribed repetitions.

Overview

When programming for Pectoralis Major growth, the Band One Arm Twisting Seated Row stands out as a highly efficient Strength choice. Performing this movement with Band forces your stabilizer muscles to work in tandem with the primary movers, translating to functional strength and enhanced muscular endurance.

Benefits

  • Utilizes Band to create sustained mechanical tension, forcing deep muscle adaptation.
  • Significantly enhances the structural integrity and power of the Pectoralis Major.
  • Reduces the likelihood of Waist injuries by reinforcing connective tissue strength.
  • Promotes balanced muscular development by effectively recruiting the Pectoralis Major and associated synergists.

Common Mistakes

  • Failing to achieve a full range of motion, which drastically limits Pectoralis Major engagement.
  • Rushing the repetition tempo instead of focusing on the mind-muscle connection with the Waist.
  • Using excessive momentum to swing the Band rather than controlling the eccentric phase.
  • Shrugging the shoulders or compensating with secondary muscles rather than isolating the Pectoralis Major.

Muscle Anatomy
