1
Stand beneath a pull-up bar with feet positioned shoulder-width apart. Grasp the bar with both hands using an overhand grip (palms facing away) with hands positioned slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
2
Engage your core and establish a neutral spine. Depress your scapulae and prepare to initiate the pulling motion from your back muscles rather than your arms.
3
Lower your body in a controlled manner by extending your arms fully, maintaining a slight bend in the elbows at the bottom position. Keep your torso upright and avoid excessive swinging or kipping motion.
4
Drive through the shoulders and back to pull your body upward by retracting the scapulae and flexing the elbows. Continue pulling until your chest approaches the bar or reaches your desired height, then slowly lower back to the starting position with control.
