1
Sit on a bench with your back against the backrest, feet positioned on the ground or resting on the leg extension machine's footpad. Maintain upright posture with core engaged and hands gripping the bench or handles for stability.
2
Place both feet under or on the footpad of the leg extension machine with knees bent at approximately 90 degrees. Adjust the seat and footpad position so the pivot point of the machine aligns with your knee joint. Grip the handles or seat firmly.
3
Slowly extend your legs forward, straightening the knees against the resistance of the machine in a controlled manner. Lower back to the starting position with knees bent, maintaining constant tension on the quadriceps throughout the eccentric phase.
4
Drive through the quadriceps to extend the legs fully or near-fully against the machine resistance. Squeeze the quadriceps at the top of the movement for maximum muscle engagement. Return to the starting bent-knee position in a controlled 2-3 second descent.
