1
Stand facing a pull-up bar with feet together and arms extended overhead. Grip the bar with both hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart using an overhand or neutral grip.
2
Engage your core and maintain a neutral spine. Depress your shoulders and prepare to initiate the pull by retracting your scapula.
3
Lower your body in a controlled manner by extending your arms while maintaining tension in the lats. Resist gravity and do not swing or use momentum. The descent should take 2-3 seconds.
4
Pull your body upward by driving your elbows down and back, focusing on initiating the movement from your lats rather than your arms. Continue until your chest approaches or touches the bar, then slowly lower back to the starting position with control.
